Collector-Grade Black Bamboo Phyllostachys nigra
This listing is for two black bamboo (Phyllostachys nigra) rhizome divisions from a large, mature, outdoor-grown grove that has taken 4 years to establish to full screening height (20–30+ feet).
⚠️ This grove will soon be destroyed due to land being lost and the new to be owners wanting it destroyed, based on its proximity to a concrete slab; Take advantage of stock curated by a former UGA student, now with a masters and bachelor's in Horticulture.
Once this stand is removed, a grove of this size and maturity will take many years to recreate.
This is a limited-time opportunity to acquire collector-grade genetics from a fully mature, proven planting — not greenhouse clone stock and not nursery starter plants.
Why This Stock Is Rare and Valuable
This grove was intentionally planted using multiple genetically distinct parent populations sourced from widely separated regions of the U.S. At least 5 distinct sets of genetics, with 7 possible since 2 either never made it or stayed dormant longer than expected (which is very possible since those were some of the furthest away I could aquire, thus being the most "in shock" when planted, and it isn't that these never sprouted, it was more the issue that once the dormancy broke in the other specimens, it was very difficult to tell for certain that these particular populations made it).
⚠️This reduces the risk of synchronized flowering and die-off, a known issue in cloned black bamboo populations since 2022 and will continue at least for 2 years from now.
You are buying from a genetically diverse, outdoor-hardened, mature grove — not cloned nursery material.
